Amalia Brut Sparkling Wine

Cava (Macabeo, Parrellada, Xarello) 750 ml WINEMAKING Amalia is made with premium traditional cava grape varieties using the Charmat method whereby both fermentations are carried out in pressurized steel tanks. David Morrison who oversees the winemaking insists on paying a premium for a high quality base wine. ANALYSIS Alcohol: 11.5% Total acidity: 6.9 g/L Resid. sugar: 14 g/L VINEYARDS Alto Penedés is the birthplace of the world famous Spanish sparkling wine, cava. Amalia is produced for Long Wines by a winery founded in 1985 and situated in the acknowledged centre of cava production near Sant Sadurni d’Anoia. Slightly inland from the Mediterranean, beyond the distinctive peaks of the Monstserrat Massif, the vines grow on a scattering of limestone deposits and thrive in the mild climate. The winery uses grapes from some of the most prestigious vineyards in the area including those of Cellers Piñol. Macabeo 33%, Parellada 33% and Xarello.

Martinez Lacuesta Rosado 2014 – 87 Points

87 Points Light, bright orange. Ripe red berries and a hint of cherry pit on the nose. Lush and open-knit, offering slightly warm raspberry and cherry pit flavors and a hint of bitter orange pith. Picks up a peppery element with air and finishes with good bite and decent persistence. — Josh Raynolds (Vinous) 4/15  .

Garduño Rose Bobal 2014 – 87 Points

87 Points Pale silver-pink. High-pitched aromas of pink grapefruit, strawberry and ginger, with a subtle floral nuance in the background. Dry and tightly wound, offering zesty citrus fruit and red berry flavors and a touch of musky rhubarb.
